A petrol scooter looks cheaper on the price tag. Over five years of a 30 km daily commute, it is not. Here is the arithmetic, with no rounding in our favour.
Running cost per kilometre
A 45 km/l petrol scooter at ₹100 a litre costs about ₹2.22 per kilometre. The Fusion does 60–80 km on a charge from a pack that costs roughly ₹15 to fill, which works out near ₹0.21 per kilometre. On 30 km a day that is about ₹2,000 a month against ₹190.
Servicing
No engine oil, no filters, no spark plugs, no clutch. A petrol scooter needs servicing every 3,000 km. The Fusion needs brake pads, tyres and an annual check. Over five years that difference alone is close to ₹25,000.
What it does not save you
Insurance is broadly similar. Tyres wear the same. And a lithium pack does lose capacity over time — budget for a replacement somewhere past year five, which is why our battery warranty runs three years pro-rata.
The five-year picture
Adding purchase, fuel or charging, servicing and a realistic resale value, the Fusion comes out roughly ₹90,000 ahead over five years. The gap widens the more you ride.
